During the Botswana-Canada Mining Seminar at the Mining Indaba in Cape Town, Honorable Minister Lefoko Maxwell Moagi pitched Botswana’s rich mining sector to Canadian investors. Minister Moagi highlighted the country’s strategic position as an investment launchpad and its stable political climate, complemented by a solid legal framework and consistent economic growth. He underscored Botswana’s focus on mining and beneficiation, emphasizing how policies are being tailored to maximize the value of critical minerals crucial for the digital and sustainability transitions. Moagi detailed the shift towards exploration of key minerals, including lithium and cobalt, and flaunted investor incentives such as Botswana’s low tax rate at 22 percent, absence of exchange controls, and duty-free import benefits. The seminar, a collaborative effort by the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre, showcased Botswana’s drive to diversify its mining industry and the active participation of Canadian mining firms like Giyani Metals, Lucara Diamond Corp.Diamond, and Premium Nickel Resources Botswana highlighted Botswana’s investment appeal.
